I majored in Biological Sciences at USC and went on to attend dental school at UCSF. While there, my curiosity was piqued by the orthodontic specialty. I was fortunate to stay at UCSF for my residency, a three-year program known for its strong foundation and clinical skills. Here, I earned my Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science in Orofacial Sciences. Since graduating, I’ve been practicing in Mill Valley and have absolutely loved this community and the people I’ve been able to meet. This usually revolves around foundational issues - sometimes the jaws aren’t big enough for all the adult teeth to erupt well. What should I be looking for? Ideally, patients should have lost the front four baby teeth on the top and bottom. The upper front two and lower four adult incisor teeth should be erupted, along with the adult first molar teeth in the back. Dr. Parikh performs a full airway evaluation for every single patient. Sleep-disordered breathing, particularly in children, can be life-altering. Children with airway obstructions or sleep apnea may experience symptoms ranging from behavioral changes (lethargy, inability to focus), to misdiagnosis of ADHD, or even bed-wetting well into childhood years.
